DeWayne Miner and Tiffany McWilliams both took the record breaker bonus money in today\'s 1 Mile Riverbottom Burnout, the Alabama State 1 Mile Championship. DeWayne\'s 4:20.35 run was over 9 seconds faster than the existing 4:30.11 state record, which was set in the Burnout in 2004. Tiffany smashed the female state record, running 4:49.21 vs. the existing record of 5:17.80.

CARSON, CA >> Cullman\'s EC Gibbs placed 6th in the USATF Junior National Championships today in Carson, California. Gibbs, who was seeded 11th in the 12-person field after running 3:59.02 in the prelims on Friday afternoon, improved his 1500m personal best to 3:52.47 to finish 6th in the final. The time converts to 4:09.56 for 1600m.
Michael Bond won the one mile event at the 11th Annual Polar Bear Run in Prattville today. Bond won the mile in 4:41 which unofficially equals the state road one mile record for the 25 year age group in Alabama. This win comes after Bond broke the 24 year age group record last September in Montgomery.
BOSTON, Massachusetts (Jan. 13) -- Alabama state 800m and 1600m champion E.C. Gibbs has accepted an invitation to compete in the Reebok Boston Indoor games. The professional meet will feature a race for top high school milers this year.
