Hoover's varsity women's cross country team opened the 2006 season with a perfect score of 10 in a rare Abraham Lincoln-style "four score" meet at the Oak Mountain Invitational.
Nicole and Kimberly Muldowney led the Hoover team with a 1-2 finish in the 11th & 12th grade division with respective times of 19:39 and 19:57 over 5K. Though Marissa Brokaw of host Oak Mountain and Homewood's Anna Johnson finished 3rd and 4th to break up Hoover's top 4, both teams were non-scoring. When Bucs Amy Chen and Brittany Kahlstorf took the tape in 5th and 6th, it completed the Hoover sweep of the top four scoring positions.
Mountain Brook finished second with 38 points, followed closely by Briarwood (41) and Spain Park (47).
On the men's side, Tim Landry finished first overall in 16:10, ahead of Oak Mountain's Ross Laporte (16:27) and a pair of Vestavia runners, Marshall Dalessandro (16:41) and Austin Duckworth (16:43). Hoover won the team race with 29 points. Homewood was second with 40 and Oak Mountain third with 48.
