Former Scottsboro runner Graves starts career in VA with win

After Griff Graves' freshman season in 2004, he appeared ready to follow in his father's (Auburn legend Tom Graves) footsteps and have one of the greatest distance running careers in state history for 5A powerhouse Scottsboro. That changed this summer as Graves moved to Abington, Virginia.

Word of Graves' move generated a buzz in Virginia and expectations were high as his sophomore debut drew near. That debut came Saturday (9/3) in Bristol, Tennessee, where Graves ran 15:41 over 3 miles, just one second slower than the course record (set by Footlocker Finalist Fleet Hower in 2001).
