Miner & McWilliams set records at Riverbottom Burnout in Florence

DeWayne Miner and Tiffany McWilliams both took the record breaker bonus money in today's 1 Mile Riverbottom Burnout, the Alabama State 1 Mile Championship. DeWayne's 4:20.35 run was over 9 seconds faster than the existing 4:30.11 state record, which was set in the Burnout in 2004. Tiffany smashed the female state record, running 4:49.21 vs. the existing record of 5:17.80.

The top three males were all under the old record time. Dennis Eaton was 2nd with 4:27.50 and Mike Bond was 3rd in 4:27.83. Both Dennis (25) and Mike (26) set new records for their respective ages. Two other state age records were set, Shawn Greenhill's 4:53.21 is a new record for age 27, and Eddie Phillips' 5:28.12 a record for age 51.

Thanks to everyone who participated, especially those from out of town. Also a big thanks to race director Gary House and all of the volunteers who gave up their Saturday morning to help.
