Smiths Station and Mountain Brook's Boy's 4x800 Relay teams went head to head Saturday at the Homewood Invitational. These two teams get a rematch Thursday at the Auburn Elite Meet. You can watch this past Saturday's race here!

There were some amazing moments at the state meet this year. If you missed them, no big deal. We captured them for safe keeping.
The Smiths Station Boys 4x800 relay is currently leading the state among all classifications and has been as high as US#8 this season. The team ran 8:07 at the Georgia Tech Coaches Invitational and followed up the next week with 8:04 at the Columbus Relays.
A beautiful grove of pecan trees provided an ideal setting for the 33rd Annual Westover Invitational. Heavy storms the night before moved out to leave clear skies for a record number of enthusiastic runners. Comprised of forty-six Varsity Teams and fourteen Middle School Teams, the competitors gathered at the start to test the newly designed, relatively fast course at Robert Cross Middle School in Albany, GA.
The Westover Invitational enters its 33rd Year with another large field of teams making the trip to Albany. There have been some changes to the course that has allowed runners to produce PR times over the years. With the City of Albany selling part of the property last spring, the course has now been completely redone. Saturday's meet will determine how fast this new course will be as 46 high schools and 14 middle school teams will take their shot at winning the 33rd Annual event.
Smiths Station returns a strong boys team and looks to make some noise in the newly created 7A classification.

The Smiths Station TC competed Friday in the 1000m Swedish Medley at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals winning the event. 2012 is the first year the event has been competed at NBON.
The 2012 Mobile Challenge of Champions brings together some of the top athletes from around the southeast.
This past weekend Florida State University hosted one of the premier track and field meets in the South East. 6A Alabama High School, Smiths Station, made the trip to compete and brought home the gold. Read More...

Congratulations to Spencer Ferguson for being named the statewide winner for the Wendy's Heisman Award. This award recognizes outstanding students for academics, athletics and community service. Look for his picture in Wendy's restaurants across the state.
Madeline Morgan of Mountain Brook took the top spot in the Girls Championship race. Patrick McGregor of Hoover took the lead at the 3k mark in the woods but was passed exiting the trail by Maclean O'Donnell (OakRidge RC). Teams from Alabama invaded our neighbors to the east Saturday and came back with the spoils of victory. The course looked fabulous as always except for being squishy from the rain friday. The temperature could not have been better for the Championship races in the morning, however heat and humidity did show up by the JV races.Read more.....
The October issue of Track and Field News announced the final rankings of the Outdoor 4x800. Smiths Station High School finished the year as US #4 with a time of 7:40.8
For anyone wanting to run and enjoy a free breakfast, Smiths Station will be providing a free pancake breakfast with entry in to the 3rd race of their summer Triple Crown 5K series. The event is this sat and includes a 1mi and 5K race. Entry information can be found at www.sshsrunners.com
Smiths Station High School improved to US#3 at Nike Outdoor Nationals with a time of 7:40.88. The team consisted of Shane George, John Neil, Spencer Ferguson, and Chris Bilbrew.
The University of Kentucky High School Invitational always serves as a stepping stone for Alabama teams qualifying for Nike Indoor Nationals. This past weekend did precisely just that for many of the teams our state sent up there.
The Nike Team Nationals pre-season rankings have been released and the Southeast region rankings include a total of 3 teams from Alabama.
