Caroline Barlow had big plans for her senior season on the track. After finishing second at the 3A Cross Country Finals. Barlow came into 2014 eyeing a 3200m state title, an event she was third in at the state meet. Enter a stress fracture in her right tibia and all dreams ceased. He says with the stress fracture, she just can't train hard enough to make it out of their insanely competitive region.

Freedom senior Connor Ferrentino is eager to return to the state track meet. After finishing third in the 1600 meters as a sophomore, the University of Alabama signee had an injury plagued junior year. The class of 2012, held some very talented athletes all around. Two of those athletes Shayla Sanders and Kyri Tabor, were on top of their game in high school leading the competition, but going to college was a whole different ball game. Both suffered freshman season ending injuries that forced them to reevaluate many things.

Gulf Coast senior Caroline Barlow spent the beginning of the cross country season, touring the southeast on official college visits. The stops included the University of Florida, Ole Miss, and the University of Alabama. Barlow says she really enjoyed all three of her visits and each school offered wonderful opportunities, but it was Bama that stole her heart at the end of the day.

The college recruiting process has come to an end for Freedom's Connor Ferrentino. Lakewood Ranch senior Olivia Ortiz has had a great high school career. Ortiz was named Gatorade Cross Country Runner of the Year in Florida in 2011 after finishing first at the 3A Cross Country Finals and was a Foot Locker National Finalist.
