OJ Armstrong Relays cancelled

Scottsboro High School\'s annual OJ Armstrong Relays have been cancelled for 2004. Head coach John Esslinger says the Thursday afternoon relay meet will return next year, and he is currently accepting teams to fill the six-lane track. Interested coaches should contact John Esslinger by e-mail at JEssling@ScottsboroSchools.net. The meet is normally scheduled for the last Thursday in March, but is flexible to change as new teams are included. Participating schools should be able to field relay teams from 4x100m up to 4x1600m in both mens and womens varsity divisions. In the past, five teams from north Alabama such as Grissom, Madison County, Cullman, and Fort Payne have joined the homestanding Wildcats in a short relay-only meet named in honor of the late OJ Armstrong, a former member of the Scottsboro City School Board and devoted fan of track & field.
