What was your most memorable meet and why? The 3200m at outdoor state my 8th grade year when I placed because that was when I finally started to believe in myself.
Where did you face your biggest competition? It was not a set meet but more my whole junior year season. I was injured and my attitude towards running turned bad because my times were not where I wanted them to be.
Out of all of your high school accomplishments, which stands out the most and why? Indoor state my sophomore year when I won the 1600m because I did not believe I could win individually at the state level until that moment,
If you could do it all over again, what would you change about your running career in high school? I would train harder and got my miles up.
What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome during your HS Track career? My confidence and mind set, when I first joined the team there were some pretty negative people and it affected my mindset.
What will you miss the most? My teammates especially the ones younger than me, I have never me a group of girls as loving and amazing as them.
Do you have any advice for younger athletes? Trust your coach and do not slack off on summer or winter training, I know it is easy if you do not have a coach breathing down your neck, but it is not worth it.
What are your post-high school or college plans? I have signed to run track and cross country at the University of Alabama. Roll Tide!
Who would you like to say thank you to? I would like to thank my coaches William Calvert, Stephen Calvert, and Katie Clemmons, along with two of my siblings, Ayleana and Steven Mami, who got me to start running, and lastly my mom and dad for supporting me on this journey and through everything else.
