Chickasaw Trails

The 2008 running of the Chickasaw Trails will be the opening meet for many teams in the state this season.  With over 1900 runners this year, teams can expect alot of quality competition from both Mississippi and Alabama.

Large School Race
Boys

While Auburn and Oak Mountain are set to compete for the state title in 6A this season, they can expect competition from Mississippi state champion Tupelo this year in the large school boys race.  Although Hoover is entered, their top runners are absent from competition.

In individual competition, look for standout performances from Patrick Gomez (Auburn) and Philip Johnson (Homewood) from our state, while Tupelo brings in a powerhouse grouping in Rob Ellis, Max Holman, and Gordon Lee

Girls
On the girls' side of things, look for Mississippi state champion (yes, they won on the boys side also) Tupelo to bring big competition to Scottsboro who will return several strong runners this year making them an early 5A favorite.

Individually we can look for Katie Huston and Adriana Poole of Sparkman along with Elsbeth Denton of  Vestavia to have big days.  With Mountain Brook absent from competition, Huston or Katherine Steinman of Tupelo are the favorites.

Small School Race
Boys

The boys' side is wide open with Cold Spring, Hatton, Athens Bible, and Catholic of Huntsville all showing up.  Westminster Christian is a dark horse this year that can possibly shake things up if they can find a 5th man.

Girls
The girls' side should have good competition in Rogers but anyone has a chance in this race.
