Meet Information
This throws meet is named in honor of former UMS-Wright student-athlete Lyon Newell who passed away in 2002. During his career at UMS-Wright, Newell was a state champion thrower in track as well as an outstanding football player. Proceeds from this competition will go to charity.
Meet Fees $35 per team ($70 for both girls and boys)
There is a limit of 20 teams. In order to receive the password for the meet email Garrett Schumacher at gschumacher@ums-wright.org
Payments Checks accepted on day of the meet at the officials' tent.
Rolling Schedule:
4:00pm: Boys Javelin, Girls Discus, Boys Shot Put
Followed By: Girls Javelin, Boys Discus, Girls Shot Put
Two Entries Per Event. There will be Prelims and Finals.
* There are two throwing areas for each event. Prelims in one event may start while finals are going on in other areas.
**Teams must be entered in the Lyon Newell Throws Meet to be allowed to compete in the Fast Times Meet. No Exceptions!
**If an athlete is competing in the Fast Times Meet on Thursday March 25th, they will have to buy a ticket if they plan on attending the Lyon Newell Throws Meet.
