Meet Information
This throws meet is named in honor of former UMS-Wright student-athlete Lyon Newell who passed away in 2002. During his career at UMS-Wright, Newell was a state champion thrower in track as well as an outstanding football player. Proceeds from this competition will go to the Child Advocacy Center.
$25 per team ($50 for both girls and boys)

Time: Warm-ups begin at 2:45 pm, the competition will begin promptly at 3:15. Please have your athletes at their respective events on time!
Scoring: This is a team scored competition 10-8-6-4-2-1
Awards: T-Shirts will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each event.
Entries: Limited to top 2 athletes per event per school.
Notes:
Boys Minimum: Discus 110, Shot Put 40, Javelin 120
Girls Minimum: Discus 70, Shot Put 25, Javelin 75

* Each competitor is allowed 3 preliminary throws. The top 7 atheletes will advance to the finals for 3 additional throws.
* Minimum standards must be met to have a throw measured.
