Life of a Runner: Cameron Deloach

The last race was definitely one to remember. As most of you already know, the Jesse Owens Classic turned into a mud run last Saturday. I stayed optimistic, however, looking at the weather as only a small setback. The race atmosphere was still very exciting despite the conditions and I was still in awe at the sheer number of people there. I was surprised at how quick I got out despite the mud but I knew I had to push the pace as much as I could because there was nowhere to make up anytime on a muddy course. I set a new PR and was happy, but definitely not satisfied at all. I think most runners never are; as soon as we set a PR we are looking for a way to set a new one again as soon as possible.

I would personally like to the parents, fellow teammates and Coach Anderton for standing out in the mud and making sure to cheer everyone on. It really does come in handy to have support along the course. I would also like to congratulate teammates Micheal Johnson, Erika Kulp and Anna Puckett on their top 50 finishes in the Silver Division and teammate Jesse Puckett on her top 25 finish in the Red Division! They all did amazing and so did everyone else on the team as well. Hopefully we can continue the good progress in the following upcoming weeks. Go Warriors
