This Week's Nominees:
Kendall Brown, Baker (Alabama): Captured the long jump at the AHSAA State Heptathlon/Decathlon with a leap of 19-5.25, defeating #2 state-ranked Katherine Lee (Auburn HS) in the process. Also placed third in the 200 meters at 25.33, beating several state-ranked athletes including Lee. Competed across three events at the multi-event state meet.
Katherine Lee, Auburn HS (Alabama): Won two events at the AHSAA State Heptathlon/Decathlon, taking the 100m hurdles in 13.89 and the javelin at 115-4.5. Placed second in the long jump at 18-9 and fourth in the 200 meters at 25.45. Her hurdles victory came over #5 state-ranked Victoria Weeden (Auburn HS).
Annabelle Bean, Northridge High School (Alabama): Ran 25.12 to finish second in the 200 meters at the AHSAA State Heptathlon/Decathlon, defeating several state-ranked sprinters including Kendall Brown (Baker) and Katherine Lee (Auburn HS).
Victoria Weeden, Auburn HS (Alabama): Posted a runner-up finish in the high jump at 5-4.5 at the AHSAA State Heptathlon/Decathlon, making her the #2 junior in Alabama in the event. Also placed fifth in the 100m hurdles at 15.15, ranking her #4 among juniors statewide. Competed in three events total at the multi-event state meet.
Mia Martin, Scottsboro HS (Alabama): Won the 800 meters at the AHSAA State Heptathlon/Decathlon in 2:19.46, a time that ranks #6 in Alabama this season. Also competed in the 200 meters, placing 13th at 27.17.
