Interview with Sara Cothran of Oak Mountain High School


Q: What is your favorite ice cream flavor?

A:  Blueberry

Q: Where are you planning to attend college? Or do you have other post high school plans?

A: University of Alabama-Huntsville

Q: Do you plan to continue competing in track and field or cross country in college?

A: Yes

Q: What is your favorite event to compete in and why?

A:  Javelin because there's so much technique that goes into it and I love the satisfaction of everything coming together for a great throw.

Q: Do you have any pre-race/competition rituals or superstitions?

A:  Eating honey before I compete

Q: Which track or cross country meet was your favorite and why?

A:  The 2024 heptathlon because I checked off many of my goals and it was the perfect way to end my high school career.

Q: What is your favorite memory or highlight from your time on the track and field or cross country team?

A:  Winning state in the 4x800 indoor and placing 2nd in the heptathlon.

Q: Is there anyone you'd like to give a special shout-out to?

A:  Coach Crystal for always believing in me and my teammates and pushing us to accomplish our goals.

Q: What is one piece of advice you would like to leave for your teammates as you graduate?

A: Don't be too hard on yourself and trust the process.
