Last week's track meets put on a display of athletic prowess, with athletes delivering outstanding performances in sprints, hurdles, distance races, and field events alike.
Sprints and Hurdles
Alijah Vaughn from Sparkman High School sprinted to victory in both the 100m and 200m events with impressive times of 10.60 seconds and 21.46 seconds, respectively. Bradley Franklin of Thompson excelled in hurdles, clinching the 110H at 13.90 seconds and the 300H at 37.80 seconds. Janie Ford from St. Paul's Episcopal also shone in the 300H, clocking 43.68 seconds. Janie Ford also impressed in the 400m, finishing in 55.43 seconds.
Distance Dominance
The 800m race saw Dylan Dryer from James Clemens lead the pack at the Arab KNIGHT Invite with a time of 1:54.61, closely followed by Travis Barnett from Holly Pond and Luke Alverson, also from James Clemens. Lucy Benton from Mountain Brook HS and Charles Perry from UMS-Wright topped the field in their 800m races, with times of 2:12.88 and 1:53.21. Luke Alverson triumphed in the 1600m, posting a stellar time of 4:15.37. Winston McGhee from Spanish Fort showcased his talent with a winning time of 4:16.84. The 3200m race performances was dominated by Mary Katherine Malone from Mountain Brook HS, who dropped a 10:48.24.
Field Events
In the pole vault, Libby Chance from Arab and Annie Kerr from Mountain Brook HS soared to heights of 11-6 and 12-6, respectively. The high jump was no less competitive, with TJ Autrey from Auburn clearing 6-8. The javelin throw featured standout performances by Ellie Partrick from Brooks and Brett Coleman from Haleyville High School, with throws of 138-9 and 185-8. The triple jump was led by Khiyon Lewis from Northridge High School and Isaiah Riggins from Carroll High School, leaping to distances of 48-5 and 48-11. Caroline Sanders from Scottsboro HS excelled in the long jump, reaching a distance of 20-0.
