Help Wanted: Hiring Contributors for MileSplit Alabama

With the outdoor season right around the corner there are several exciting opportunities to join the MileSplit Alabama team in 2024. Our coverage would not be possible without members from the community and we are always looking to grow and expand. We have regular volunteer and positions paid on an event-by-event basis, with some responsibilities including:

  • Livestream Operator - high need
  • Written features, previews, recaps, athlete Q&As, and more
  • Race footage
  • Photo Galleries - High Need
  • Post-event interviews with athletes and coaches
  • Social Media content (We would love to add some cool reels highlighting meets to our content offering)

Your contribution, no matter the form it takes, can significantly enrich our coverage and ensure that the accomplishments and stories of Alabama's track and field talents are showcased to their fullest extent!  We have had parents, coaches, as well as current and former athletes and others who have been a part of our team in the past.  As a contributor you would help in covering some of the state's top events and would be the eyes and ears on the ground, documenting not just the races but the stories, emotions, and highlighting the achievements of individuals and teams competing.

Timeliness is important as we aim to bring the action to our community swiftly.  Your role would include the responsibility to upload photo or video content to the MileSplit Alabama site within a 24 hour window post-event. Additional expectations and potential perks associated with the job will be discussed via Zoom or phone call on a case by case basis to ensure our contributors are best set up for success. If you, or anyone you know, have any interest in joining our team please fill out this Google Form that has a few preliminary questions.  Additional screening interviews may take place after reviewing applicants. If you have any questions you can reach out to Alabama editor Sean Allan at al.milesplit@gmail.com.
