At 10am vaulters two runways and pits opened up on the Dauphin Street block between Jackson and Joachim St. For the 4th year in the row, the Dauphin Street Vault (the brain child of meet director Drew Bentley) was underway showcasing some of the best vaulters in the nation. Over 1000 spectators from around the southeast (and as far away as Oregon and the UK) were in town to watch the event. The Street Vault is the largest downtown event for Mobile other than Mardi Gras and Bayfest.
Vaulters from Bartolina Athletics (LA), New Heights Vault Club (LA), High Vaultage Club (AL), Birmingham Vault Club (AL), among others all brought eager athletes to compete. Over 150 vaulters would eventually hit the runway in hopes of a late summer PR.

A 2 hour rain delay didn't seem to bother many people as it during lunch time. Vaulters used the runways and pits as giant slip-n-slides as spectators and parents to the change to step in to one of the many restraunts that lines the street.
