The 2009 Jesse Owens Classic will be the coninuation of what has become a traditional mid-season matchup for teams in Alabama and Mississippi while on most occasions bringing in teams from other states as well. Many of Alabama's teams come looking to use the meet as a measuring stick for the state meet course before late season workouts turn from distance to speed.
Freshman Carmen Carlos (above) of McGill-Toolen improved her AL#1 time winning the Girls Gold Division race with a time of 18:04.47. Mountain Brook finished #1 in the top division followed by Brentwood (TN), and Auburn. Nathan Lewis of Cold Springs (above right) took third in the Gold Division with a time of 15:54 despite running with a cast on his left arm. Morristown-Hamblin (TN) won the boys Gold Division followed by Mountain Brook and Hoover. Complete Results
