Bob Jones Friendly First Chance Saturday August 21, 2021
Opening season weekend!
Start the season right at the Friendly First Chance (TWO MILE) hosted by Bob Jones High School. Take care of those new runner jitters, and tune up your seasoned runners in this friendly competition on the BJHS Campus.
This will be a 2.1 MILE RACE for both Varsity and JV.
AWARDS: The top 20 Boys and Girls, Varsity and JV finishers will receive individual awards.
Top 3 TEAMS in Varsity and JV will Receive Trophies.
Four races: Varsity Boys 10-12th, Varsity
Girls 10-12th, JV Boys 7-9th, and JV Girls 7-9th.
TEAMS MUST BE ALABAMA PUBLIC or PRIVATE SCHOOLS and MEMBERS OF THE AHSAA

Saturday, August 21, 2021 Race Schedule:
We had to split the boys varsity race, so here is the new schedule
7:00 AM - 7:50 AM COURSE WALK THROUGH
We will start the 6A-7A VARSTIY BOYS first then proceed with a rolling schedule if needed please have your athletes listen and be ready
8:00 AM 6A-7A Varsity Boys 2.1 mile race
8:30 AM (or sooner when earlier race complete) 1A-5A Varsity Boys 2.1
9:00 AM (or sooner when earlier race complete) Varsity Girls 2.1 mile race
9:30 AM (or sooner when earlier race complete) JV Boys (grades 7; 8; 9) 2.1 mile race
10:00 AM (or sooner when earlier race complete) JV Girls (grades 7; 8; 9) 2.1 mile race
Awards ceremony as soon as JV Girls are complete
We don't want to confuse things with a rolling schedule, but we want to get everyone complete ahead of the HEAT and the Thunderstorms.
If weather is closing in with will ask the coaches to pick up team trophies and skip the formal awards ceremony.
We want this to be fun and rewarding but we want to keep the athletes as safe as possible as well.
Elite runner medals will be handed out as the athletes finish, TOP 20 T-Shirts need to be picked up from the award tent near the finish line as soon as results are posted.

ENTRY FEE: $50 per team VARSITY
Girls, VARSITY Boys, JUNIOR VARSITY Girls, JUNIOR VARSITY Boys.
(Max fee Per school $200) *INDIVIDUALS - $10 EACH (LESS THAN 5 ON A TEAM) - Must be attached
to an AHSAA school

Course is flat and fast. It starts and finishes on a rubberized track where spectators can see the start and finish from the bleachers.
There are some paved areas and pavement crossings. Please walk the course and decide whether you want to wear spikes or not. There is grass along most paved pathways but there is approximately 200 meters of paved surface and 200 meters on a rubberized track.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
*Due to the required layout of the course, runners must complete
the 2 mile course in under 26 minutes or they will be pulled from the course
and will not receive a time.(We hope
this doesn't affect any runners and apologize if it does, but this is for the
safety of all runners)
WE WILL BE USING CHIP TIMING
******$5 for Parking*******
Parking: Please inform all parents and family members who plan to drive to the meet that parking is $5 CASH ONLY for all cars in the BJHS South Parking Lot. Bus parking will be free. Parking Entry only at South Parking Lot Entrance off Hughes Road South of the High School.
