McGill-Toolen dominates its own track meet

McGill-Toolen\'s boys and girls used home field advantage in
Saturday\'s McGill-Toolen Invitational Meet.

The meet will be completed Monday with the shot put and discus
competition Monday at 3:15. Those could not be held because the
throwing areas were underwater from Friday night\'s rain.

McGill-Toolen led UMS-Wright in the boys\' division 150-101 after
13 events. Murphy was third with 95, followed by LeFlore with 56
and St. Paul\'s with 23. On the girls\' side, it was a little bit
closer with the Lady Jackets leading UMS-Wright 132-126. LeFlore
was third with 75, while Murphy and St. Paul\'s had 53 and 34
points, respectively.

The Yellow Jacket boys took the lead almost from the beginning
with a sweep in the 110-meter high hurdles. Alex Morris won in 16
seconds flat, while Michael Kemper and Chris Lyon were second and
third in 16.53 and 16.65. Morris also won the pole vault with a
height of 14 feet, 6 inches, with Thomas Fowlkes second (14-0).

Lyon and Kemper finished 1-2 in the 300-meter hurdles with times
of 41.28 and 43.46, respectively, while Ryan Lenaghan won the 1600
(4:36.43) and 3200 (10:23.1).

Murphy got big wins and excellent early-season times from Leon
McAfee in the 100 (10.71) and 200 (22.37). Steven Mouton won the
800 in 2:03.7, while Anthony Pugh won the long jump and triple
jump with distances of 20-3 and 41-2 respectively.
UMS-Wright got wins in the 4x100 meter relay (45.46) and Ashley
Wright\'s 6-2 effort in the high jump, while LeFlore won the 4x400
in 3:36.00 and got a victory from Benaski Williams in the 400
(53.84).

McGill-Toolen\'s girls were led by Elizabeth Wancowicz, who won the
800 (2:26.4) and 1600 (5:31.6), and anchored the winning 4x400
meter relay (4:17.5). In addition, Rhiannon Jaet won the pole
vault (11-0) and long jump (16-6), and Emily Miller the high jump
(5-0).

Edra Finley kept UMS-Wright\'s girls in contention with victories
in the 100 and 300-meter hurdles. Finley won both in 16.06 and
49.84, respectively, and also won the triple jump (35-6). She was
second in the long jump and also ran a leg on the second-place
4x400 meter relay team. Allison Pennock won the 400 in 63.88.

St. Paul\'s Tara Lenn ran the 3200 virtually by herself as she won
in 11:47.9. LeFlore won the 4x100 meter relay (52.53). LeFlore\'s
Lashara Edwards (100) and Hannah Fornae (200) also won.
