Life of a Runner: Cameron Deloach

We are almost at the halfway mark of the cross country season and it seems like just yesterday the preseason practices started. I find it crazy how time seemed to fly away like that. We have had an off week from racing with our main goal being getting ready for the Jesse Owens Classic. I always look forward to Jesse Owens because the race and the atmosphere of the meet is always so fantastic every year. The great shirts are just an added bonus. I pray that this year goes well and that our team is able to run a strong, fast race since we really haven't run on a fast course yet this year.

The training week was more intense since there was no racing. I liked the heavier intensity,as it tests your strength more, but I was definitely sore a lot more than usual. Since there was no race, the girls team managed to get in some team bonding time. Every year we dress up after our race at Jesse Owens to cheer on the boys' team and get to know each other better. However,we keep the details of our plans secret from the boys so they don't know exactly what we are going to look like on race day. I won't say very much, but I think we will all look fantastic on race day. Good luck to everyone competing at Jesse Owens and anywhere else on Saturday!
