Interview: Oriana Carter

a dashing Ram

Ramsay senior Oriana Carter is undefeated in high school races 100 meters or shorter since April 2002 and hasn't lost a race at any distance yet in 2003. After winning the 5A Section III titles in the 100m and 4x100m relay last year, she went on to win both of those events again at the state meet the following week. Her consecutive wins streak has continued this year. In indoor, she won the 55m dash at the Southern Invitational, Last Chance Invitational, and 5A State Championships while she and her Ram teammates also picked up a win in the 4x200m relay at State.

Thus far in outdoor, she's captured individual wins in the 100m at the Green Wave Invitational, Hoover Relays, and King of the Mountain. She's won the 200m at Green Wave and King of the Mountain, and her 4x100m relay team remains undefeated after winning Green Wave, Hoover Relays, and King of the Mountain.

With just over a month left in the outdoor season, marks at the top of 5A in three different sprint events, and a 100m personal best time just 8 hundredths of a second away from the state record, Oriana Carter has her eyes set on coming home from Tuscaloosa with three gold shields and a new 5A 100m record.
