Fast times, an outgoing personality, and an unmistakable head of auburn hair make Scottsboro junior distance runner Will McGee one of the best-known and most-recognized track athletes in the state this year. Since his freshman year, when he placed tenth in the 4A-5A state cross country meet and was a member of the state-championship indoor track team, McGee has earned All-State honors thirteen times, won one relay championship, and five team state championships for Scottsboro.

In November, Will placed third in the state cross country meet to lead his team to their first cross title since 1999. In February, he completed the difficult distance "quad": the 3200m, 800m, 1600m, and 4x800m relay, adding twenty points to the Wildcats' winning 111-point total. Now, if the "Big Black Machine" can repeat as 5A outdoor champions, McGee and his teammates will accomplish something no other men's team in Scottsboro's storied history has done before: winning the Triple Crown.
