Jamie Oliver Journal Page

Hoover senior Jamie Oliver serves a key role on one of the most successful distance running teams in Alabama track & field history. Along with fellow seniors Michael Brown and Phillip Moore, Oliver won all four team cross country state champions in high school and has competed on two indoor state championship teams. This year the "Three Conquistadors" seek the White Whale of their careers: the Triple Crown, state championships in cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track in the same year.

Along with his six team championships, Oliver has run on two state champion relays, won an individual title in the outdoor 3200m run last year, and has earned All-State honors fourteen times. His personal best time of 9:23, which he ran for his single individual title, missed the 6A 3200m record by less than a second and is seventh AR All-Time.* His 1600m PR stands excrutiating close to the 4:20 mark (4:20.74) and currently ranks sixteenth AR All-Time.

As Jamie works to reach those goal times, make it through his senior year academically, and choose a college, he will dutifully report and reflect on his last high school weeks in these journals. Meanwhile, his strongest competition in seeking more of individual state championships to further pad his resume will come from his distance teammates.
