Now a senior, Auburn distance runner Tara Enebak waited years for the 6A spotlight she now enjoys. Before becoming the 6A state cross country champion this past November, she placed third in the state her freshman, sophomore, and junior seasons.

On the track, Enebak ran an impressive sophomore season, placing third in the 1600m and second in the 3200m at the state meet. After her third straight year of finishing third in cross country, she captured the distance double (1600m and 3200m) titles in her junior indoor campaign. But again, Tara placed third in the 1600m and second in the 3200m in May; while her times improved from her sophomore season, her place stayed the same.

Tara Enebak now sits alone at the top of 6A long distance. Not only did she win the state cross country title, she held a 34-second advantage on the second runner even without one of her best races of the season. She also ran impressively in the indoor 3200m at state, as her 11:17 winning time outpaced the runner-up by a full 27 seconds.

This week Tara Enebak will begin the final campaign of her successful high school running career.
