Hoover, Mountain Brook win team titles
Mountain Brook's junior girls team won all three relay events and the Junior High Championship meet title on Saturday, amassing 91 points to runner-up Austin's 73. Aly Goldfarb led the Spartans by running on the winning 4x200m and 4x400m teams, as well as picking up individual wins in the 400m and pole vault. Amy Rossi was the top performer for the Bears of Austin, winning the 800m and 1600m runs and finishing second in the 3200m.
On the boys' side of the Junior High Championship, Hoover's freshman team edged Mountain Brook by just six points, 64-58, with Smiths Station placing third with 50. Stephen Payne's 4:50 effort in the 1600m and the 4x800m relay were the only two event wins for the Bucs. Flexing their young distance strength, Smiths Station collected all 50 of their points from just three events: 800m, 1600m, and 3200m.
