The 2A division wrapped up Saturday, May 2 at Cullman High School Stadium with one of the most remarkable team finishes of the meet - a dead tie atop the boys standings - and a 48-point Cold Springs girls championship.

Cold Springs claimed the Blue Map by 48 points behind eighth-grader Reese Swidecki, who doubled in the 1600 (5:26.75) and 3200 (11:58.24), senior Ella Dickerson's high jump title (5-00.00), and a winning 4x800 relay (10:16.84). Cornerstone secured the Red Map on senior LaKyndal Bradley's triple jump win (34-08.50) and a meet-best 4x400 relay (4:19.56). The 2A boys race ended in a dead heat. Holy Spirit Catholic and Abbeville will share the Blue Map as co-state champions. Holy Spirit's points came from senior Nygel Seay (100/200 double) and a meet-winning 4x800 relay (8:36.95). Abbeville matched it with senior Alec Spann's triple haul - wins in the 110 hurdles (15.03), 300 hurdles (40.39), and long jump (20-10.00) - plus the 4x100 relay title (43.65). Falkville and Cornerstone Schools of Alabama finished tied at 53 for third, both 23 points back of the co-champions.
Meet Records
Two 2A meet records fell at Cullman.
Ella Parris (Pleasant Valley, 12) won the girls 800 in 2:18.66, setting a new 2A meet record. She also won the 400 (59.67) and the 300 hurdles (47.23) for a three-event sweep.
Elijah Smith (Horseshoe Bend, 12) won the boys discus at 162-09, setting a new 2A meet record. He also won the shot put (50-06.00).
Individual Highlights
Sprints
Cornerstone sophomore Jourdan Price swept the girls 100 (12.34) and 200 (26.09). Ella Parris (Pleasant Valley, 12) won the 400 in 59.67.
Holy Spirit senior Nygel Seay doubled in the boys 100 (10.89) and 200 (22.34). Zyrese Wynn (Cedar Bluff, 11) won the 400 in 51.38.
Hurdles
Chloe Jones (Lanett, 12) won the girls 100 hurdles in 15.90. Ella Parris (Pleasant Valley, 12) added the 300 hurdles title in 47.23 to complete her three-event sweep.
Abbeville senior Alec Spann doubled in the boys 110 hurdles (15.03) and 300 hurdles (40.39).
Distance
In addition to Parris's 800 (meet record), Cold Springs eighth-grader Reese Swidecki doubled in the 1600 (5:26.75) and 3200 (11:58.24).
On the boys side, Horseshoe Bend senior David Layfield swept the 800 (2:01.36), 1600 (4:26.71), and 3200 (9:47.41) - a 30-point individual performance.

Kinsley Perkins (Vincent, 11) won the shot put at 35-09.50. Mylynn Smedley (J.U. Blacksher, 8) won the discus at 104-07. Lynleigh Cobb (Winston County, 12) won the javelin at 113-04.
On the boys side, Caden Alexander (Cornerstone, 12) won the high jump at 6-04.00. Blake Belcher (Cold Springs, 11) won the pole vault at 12-06.00. Alec Spann (Abbeville, 12) won the long jump at 20-10.00. Haydn Gerlott(Cleveland, 12) won the triple jump at 43-08.00.
