  • Saraland girls spotlight: Teresa notched a lifetime PR (-1:24), Mallary dropped -33s from her 2024 Blakeley time, and Kenley Wilson - only a 7th grader - now owns Alabama's fastest 7th grade 5K this season.

  • Team title math: Gulf Breeze had the faster average, but Saraland's pack compression won it.

  • Depth check: 50+ boys broke 18:00, and the girls' race produced 10 sub-20s and 20+ sub-21s.

Preview vs. Results

  • Pensacola Christian (Boys): Picked as a favorite thanks to Manderson and their depth. Delivered with a team win and individual champion.

  • Saraland Boys: Preview suggested they'd contend for a podium spot. They did more than that-finishing runner-up, just 18 points off the title.

  • West Florida: Expected to be a top-3 team with front-runner Carmichael. Landed exactly on the podium, 3rd overall, with a tight pack behind Carmichael.

  • UMS-Wright and St. Paul's: Forecasted as teams with strong individuals but thinner depth. Both landed mid-pack behind the big three.

Girls side:

  • Saraland: Preview called out Little, Ye, and Wilson as a trio capable of pushing for a top finish. They exceeded expectations with the team championship, lifted by Mallary's 33-second improvement, Teresa's lifetime best, and Kenley's historic 7th grade run.

  • Gulf Breeze: Preview noted their front runners could push them onto the podium.  Finished runner-up with the fastest average team time.

  • Pensacola Christian: Highlighted as a dangerous squad led by Tutton.  Tutton won the race, and the team placed 3rd overall.

Bottom Line: The preview nailed the big storylines-PCA and Saraland emerging as team powers, West Florida on the boys' podium, and the Saraland girls breaking through to win thanks to Teresa's lifetime PR, Mallary's year-over-year improvement, and Kenley's record-setting 7th grade performance.
