Princess Watts

Alexandria High School

What was your most memorable meet and why?
My most memorable meet would be the Guntersville race in 2021, That's the meet I finally broke my 5-year pr which I had been waiting to do all season from a 21:28 to a 21:08.

Where did you face your biggest competition?
Sectionals this year at Guntersville again, the talent that Lawrence county, Brewer, and Lawrence county hold is very big.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments, which stands out the most and why?
Out of all my accomplishments, i think my school record in the open 800 (2:27)stands out the most because it's a family tradition to hold one, my father holds a couple still in football at the school, and my grandfather and his brother both hold many.So to leave with one meant a lot to me.

If you could do it all over again, what would you change about your running career in high school?
I made it through all the years by doing the thing I loved most there were definitely ups and downs, but the downs made it to where the ups felt even better.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome during your HS Track career?
The most difficult obstacle was switching halfway through the season to run the 400 and the 4x400 I cut out the mile and 2 mile which made me have to train a little bit more for something different.

What will you miss the most?
my teammates, I have made the most incredible friendships and seen so much raw talent from my teams and I can't wait to see how they grow but I will miss them so bad.

Do you have any advice for younger athletes?
Follow your heart.  Do it for you and love why you do it. There are always days where you might question why but when it comes to the days when you get to race your heart out and get better you will know why you are there.

What are your post-high school or college plans? Who would you like to say thank you to?
I am attending Wallace State in Hanceville, Al in the fall where I accepted an xc scholarship and plan to further my career in running. I would like to thank both my coaches, Phillip Hartsfield and Chase Brisendine, without those people I would not be the person I am today they taught me more then running and pushed me to be better than I ever thought I could be. I would also like to thank my teammates who got me through all the years, we always all leaned on each other and helped each other in their hardships I've made lifelong friends with those people and could never forget them.
