6 Memorable Moments from the 2022 Martin Luther King Jr. Inv

Mac Conwell: St. Paul's Episcopal School, Class of 2023

Mac finished off the first session with a big win in the 3200m running 9:17.23. He had a little help early in the race, but later in the race it was him versus the clock. He came through the mile in roughly 4:39 and closed in a 31 second last 200m to finish at 9:17.23. His time puts him at AL #1 and primed for an epic race at the Indoor State Meet. Just a few minutes before, he finished third in the 800 running 2:03. He said, "I was only really trying to qualify for State in the 800 and I'm not really sure if I did. But I went in just looking to expend as little energy as possible. Ran a pretty sluggish 2:03, but it was a good warmup for the 3200m. I also got to break in my new DragonFly spikes from the TrakShak. Overall, I felt as fresh as I think I could've going to into the 3200m. If the 6A 800m rankings work out, then I won't have to race until State. If it looks like I won't make it into the top 16 to make it to state in the 800m, then I'll be back up for the Last Chance Invitational to run a good 800m."
