Ten Highlights from the 2022 Icebreaker Invitational

Vestavia Hills (Senior): 1600m: 4:53.20

Crawford West kicked off her Indoor season breaking her own Icebreaker record in the 1600m running 4:53.20 (US#1). It was her first race since the Eastbay National Championship in San Diego, California. "Winter training has been going pretty well!" she said. "I started back running the week before Christmas since Eastbay Nationals was so late. It's definitely been different training for track than cross country since it's more workout based rather than mileage." For her race gameplan, she said "I didn't have any goals for this race except to go out there and give a good hard effort. I knew that if I kept pushing the pace from the front, I could win. I'm pretty pleased with what I ran but I hope I can run faster in the next few weeks." She took the mile out hard from the start and led wire to wire. Other girls gave chase, but to no avail. She'll look to qualify for Indoor State in other events in the coming weeks.
