Name: Theo Thoenes
High School: Priceville High School
What was your most memorable meet and why?
Track sectionals. I had taken a bad fall during my 300H race and was not sure if I would be able to run my 4x400 race soon after. I decided to do it anyways and ran the fastest split of my team, barely qualifying us for state in the 4x400.
Where did you face your biggest competition?
I faced my biggest competition at the Track State meet in the 4x800. It was one of the hardest races of my life.
Out of all of your high school accomplishments, which stands out the most and why?
My most prominent accomplishment to me is placing 11th at the Sectionals Cross Country meet. I had a very sizable PR and had met my goal for the season.
If you could do it all over again, what would you change about your running career in high school?
I wish that I had started earlier!
What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome during your HS Track career?
Balancing early morning practices with school and sleep.
What will you miss the most?
Competing with my best friends at meets and training with them every single day.
Do you have any advice for younger athletes?
You'll get out of it what you put into it! If you want to be better than everyone around you, put in more effort than they are.
What are your post-high school or college plans? Who would you like to say thank you to?
I plan to attend Troy University and major in Accounting. I would like to say thank you to Coach Odom for pushing me throughout my career to be the best athlete and man I could be.
