The newly rennovated Celebration Arena hosted its first competition on January 5, the Grissom-sponsored Southern Invitational. Scottsboro's varsity girls edged Central-Tuscaloosa by a mere six points, while Hoover handily defeated all competition on the boys' side, outdistancing runner-up Central by over 40 points.
