What was your most memorable meet and why?

Well, the Jesse Owens Classic my sophomore year it rained freezing rain during our race and I crossed the finish line very cold…and with blue lips. The Jesse Owens Classic this past year however was great! Got a huge PR.

Where did you face your biggest competition?

State Championships is always a party

Out of all of your high school accomplishments which stands out the most and why?

I don’t think that any one meet has made me feel the most accomplished but rather my progression over the seasons and my consistent improvement year to year. Outside of high school athletics running two half marathons has been pretty big accomplishments of mine.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

I would have run cross country my freshman year and run track all four years. I think I also would like to just have run more and have increased my weekly mileage when I was younger.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

Nerves. I used to get extremely nervous before every cross country meet. Luckily, with experience I got better about not freaking out every time on the starting line.

What will you miss the most?

I will miss the trips to Jesse Owens and state every year and the course up there. I will also miss my team because doing anything with them was always hilarious.

Do you have any advice for younger athletes?

Just run! Train hard all the time because it pays off. Make big goals for yourself and never settle for anything less.

What are your post-high school or college plans?

I plan to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham to major in biomedical sciences and run cross country and distance track. Also hoping to qualify for the New York City Marathon one day!

Who would you like to say thank you to?

I would like to say thank you to my Coach because he has been my biggest encourager along the way and he is always proud of me no matter what, so thank you Coach Delange!!! Also, my parents for buying me so many new pairs of running shoes, and my running buddy, Isabel Perry for doing all those crazy workouts with me!
