Scouting Report: Bayside Academy Girls

You return a top 5 with a team average of 20:36 this year. How does the team look after summer practices so far?
It is exciting to have a core return that is strong and dedicated to wanting to improve. Our program has been conditioning since the beginning of June, four days a week, and many of our athletes have been dedicated to conditioning with us regularly. Our primary goal for each athlete this summer is to be consistently running five to six days a week, being patient with the process.

Any new additions to the team or surprises we can expect?
We have several young runners that with time and more experience could improve. Our program has been conditioning since the beginning of June, four days a week, and many of our athletes have been dedicated to conditioning with us regularly. Our primary goal for each athlete this summer is to be consistently running five to six days a week, being patient with the process. potentially strengthen our top five. We will be patient with them at the beginning of the season allowing them as many opportunities as possible to compete against kids their own age and grade level. We do hope to have more additions to the team when school starts.

What is your schedule this season and are you changing anything up?
Our program will participate in meets we have done in the past. Admiral’s women will compete in the Invite of the Challenge of Champions. We also plan to go to the Gulf Coast Stampede. I hope to take our team to Jesse Owens Classic which is a great tradition at Bayside, but it’s homecoming that week. If we are not able to get to Jesse Owens, we may go to the FSU Pre-State Meet instead the following week.

What goals has your team established for this season?
Being new to Bayside Academy and so many families taking family vacations, we have yet to discuss team goals for the season. My points of emphasis for athletes so far have been to always give 100% effort each day, communicate with me how things are going, and to encourage each other. We hope to have our best fitness of the season at the State meet of course. What I do know is that many of your young women want a new personal record; four want to go sub-20. This would put our women in contention to win a third consecutive 3A State title.
