Scouting Report: Homewood Girls

You return a top 5 with a team average of 20:50 this year.  How does the team look after summer practices so far?
We look really strong.  We are going to be young, but we have some new blood that will join us, and I look forward to a year of improvement.

Any new additions to the team or surprises we can expect?
We have a couple of girls that ran track with us this past year that are going to run cross country as well.  Caroline Lawrence and Joy Korley should be contributors.  Hannah Brook Gibbons is a rising freshman, and she should also have an impact.

What is your schedule this season and are you changing anything up?
There are some slight changes to our season. We are opening up at Memphis Twilight again before racing the first two weekends in September. Then in October, we will run Jesse Owens before heading to FSU Invitational. This was a fast race last year, and with the NCAA Pre-Regional race on Friday evening, we wanted our runners to have the chance to see a great race and face some strong competittion. We will finish our regular season at Hewitt Trussville. So, there are some slight changes, but it follows the same flow as previous years.

What goals has your team established for this season?
You mentioned that our returning team average is 20:50.  Our goal is to drop that average below 20:30.  Several girls have set goals to run sub-20, and our priority is to be better this year than we were last year.
