Sarah Mohan is a relatively new face in Alabama High School running. The Utah native moved to Alabama during the summer of 2013 and competed on the Huntsville Cross Country team this past fall. Mohan has truly hit her stride during outdoor season winning the 800m at the Redcoat Invitational, James Clemens Invitational, and the Friday night Open Division of the Mobile Challenge of Champions. She is also a member of the 4x800m Relay which is currently AL #1 and also won the Mobile Challenge of Champions.

Hobbies:

I like to hang out with my friends with the free time I have!

Have you changed anything training wise between this year and last year?

Coming from Utah, the elevation has definitely changed, but I would say that the level of challenge in our workouts are very similar.

Are you satisfied with your outdoor season?

So far I am very satisfied with how the season has gone. I would say I'm in a very good position to keep dropping time.

Goals for this outdoor season?

I hope to place well at state in both the open 800 and the 4x8!

What goes through your mind before the gun goes off?

I try to remind myself to only think positive thoughts throughout the entire race, it really seems to help me.

Do you have any superstitions when it comes to competing?

I am about as superstitious as it gets! I always use the same hair ties, until they break. I tie my spikes the same way, and warm up in the same way before every race.

I really love watching The Tonight Show, it's pretty much the only one I have time to watch between balancing school and practice.

My phone, snacks, and my rolling stick.

When you look at the rankings, most of the fast 800m times are at Birmingham and below. What type of competition for you see around the north part of the state?

Some of the girls up here are continuing to get better and better, offering more competition for me. We have been trying to go down to more meets to get even more competition for not just me, but our 4x800 team!

Where does winning the 800m at the Mobile Challenge of Champions rank in importance in your HS career?

Mobile is a huge meet, and there are some amazing athletes that come from all over the South to race in it. Being able to win means a lot to me and definitely ranks high in importance.
