Olivia Thompson commits to Shorter College

There are many reasons why I saw Shorter University as a perfect fit for me; for one thing, my sister and former teammate, Maggie, is also a member of the track and cross country teams. Personally, I think that it would be best if we were together again on the same team because we have always been so close and push each other. Another important reason as to why I chose Shorter is the faith that I have in the coaches to help me excel at the college level. The campus and team itself feels like home to me, and I think that the school and atmosphere of the smaller college will bring out the best in me. My true love has always been track, and Shorter seems to put a lot of emphasis on the sport; I am extremely excited for the opportunity to train at the school's top-notch facilities, including the soon-to-be-built indoor track complex. As far as goals for this track season go, I'd first like to get completely healthy again after returning from my injury last season. It was a major setback and had me out of running for about five months, but I am returning and hope to be stronger than ever this season.
