Jayla Kirkland T-US #1 7.46 60m at Alabama Last Chance Invite

Jayla Kirkland wasted no time in retaking her US #1 mark in the 60m dash - sort of.

The sophomore Woodlawn standout from had settle for a tie as she ran 7.46 in the finals at the Last Chance Invitational (AL) to match Ally Watt's mark. The time also stands as a new Birmingham CrossPlex record.

Runner-up Candace Hill (Rockdale) tied for US #4 at 7.52.

Deante Tolbert set the Meet Record in the 60m with a US #7 6.85 effort to win the 60m dash. Joshua Burks tied US #10 in 6.89 for runner-up honors.

Margaret Ollinger (McGill-Toolen, AL) also had a record-breaking day, as the junior cleared 13-2 in the pole vault to set the Alabama indoor track state record. The mark stands as US #7.

Other top finishers included Alex Evans in the Boys 60H at 8.12, Kiara Williams in Girls 60H at 8.90 and Deante Tolbert in the 60m at 6.

Abbey Weitenbeck (11:06.27) and Ben Bryant (9:37.38) won the Girls and Boys 3,200m.

Mary Grace Strozier (Pelham) ran 2:16.94 to win the Girls 800m.
