This weekend Alabama athletes will scarf down Turkey on Thanksgiving Day and then start the drive to McAlpine Park in Charlotte North Carolina. Why you ask? Footlocker South.
GIRLS PREVIEW
Cele Moon (Wilson) took 2nd in 4A a few weeks ago. Her season best is 18:23.
Rachel Yergensen ( St James) took 3rd in 4A st the state meet. Her season best is 18:43.
Amaris Tyynismaa (Montgomery - Catholic) won the 4A race at the state meet and set an all class state record in the process. Her 17:03 broke former Footlocker National Qualifier Carmen Carlos's record. The only provlem? I have no idea if 8th graders can advance to Nationals. If they can, expect to see Amaris and her white knee socks in San Diego.
BOYS PREVIEW
Ben Bryant (Opelika) - Ben won the 6A race in the state meet. His season best is 15:34.
Andy Smith (Homewood) - Andy took 5th at the state meet in 6A. His season best is 15:42.
Robert Hope (UMS Wright) - Robert won the 4A race in 16:02. He ran 15:49 last year at Footlocker.
