Alabama will be represented in Seattle at the end of the month when Donnie Lee Jr. of Tuscaloosa County, Marlon Humphrey of Hoover High School, and Carmen Carlos of McGill Toolen head out to the prestigious Brooks PR Invitational. Select elite athletes were sent a viewfinder and a golden ticket invitation to the event to compete against the nations top performers.
DONNIE LEE JR.
Lee is fresh of a senior Indoor season in which he won the AHSAA 6A State Championship in the 800m and is currently US#2 in the event.
Lee also finished 2nd in the AHSAA 6A Meet in the 400m behind fellow Brooks PR invitee Marlon Humphrey. The recent University of Florida signee had this to say about being invite: "I'm extremely excited , I've heard a lot about the meet and it sounds really fun . It's also amazing to have the opportunity to meet all the elite athletes from around the country. It's also humbling to be able to run with and against them. I think it's a great honor to be invited and I'm extremely thankful for the opportunity. My main goal is to compete to my best ability. The 800m field is extremely fast so I wouldn't be surprised to see Robby Andrews' national record fall ! Hopefully , I'm able to execute my race strategy and position myself in a place where I can win. In National competitions the win is always more important than the time , but I would like to go sub 1:50 ."
