PLACE: Winfield City High Track & Field Complex located between the WCHS baseball/softball fields and Winfield Elementary School on Co Hwy 14.

FACILITY: Eight lane all weather rubber track with rubber surface runways for long jump, triple jump, pole vault, high jump and javelin throw.

DATE / TIME: Friday April 25th - Saturday April 26th.

Coaches meeting @ 8:30 AM on Friday morning. Competition begins @ 9:00 AM. Scratch meetings will not be held for section meets. THE MEET WILL BE ON A ROLLING SCHEDULE, SO BE SURE TO TELL YOUR ATHLETES TO LISTEN FOR THEIR EVENT CALLS. ALSO, ALL PRELIMS AND FINALS WILL BE RUN. THE ONLY EXCEPTION IS PERAMBULATORY/WHEELCHAIR RACES ARE ALL FINALS.

PREREQUSITE:A school must compete in at least two meets prior to the section meet.

ENTRY PROCEDURE AND DEADLINE:  Entries for all section meets must be submitted online at www.alabamarunners.com. The deadline for entries is 11:00 P.M. on the Tuesday before the section meet. A school may enter three participants in each event and one team relay in each relay event for every division in which it is competing. (A participant or relay team is "entered" upon checking in with the Clerk of the Course). Each class in a section will qualify the top 5 performances meeting qualifying standards for each event. Also qualifying will be the next 4 best performances (wildcards) meeting qualifying standards from all four sections per class event. If any of the top 5 finishers in a section event do not meet the qualifying standards, additional wildcards that meet qualifying standards in that event may be selected from the other sections in that class. A maximum of 24 may qualify for each state meet event. Wildcard ties for running events will be broken by reading times to the thousandths of a second and for field events by using the standard procedure based on misses or attempts.

A competitor shall not compete in more than four events, including relays. Late entries will not be accepted. No telephone entries will be taken. Follow the instructions on the website to register your team and enter athletes in their events. Every school entering a section meet must use this site. All questions or problems regarding entering a section meet should be directed to Alabama Runners.

(Late entries will not be accepted, no telephone entries will be taken, please don't ask).

In all track events at all levels of competition, a runner who commits a false start shall be disqualified.

A participant in an individual event must qualify for the state meet in a section meet (do not ask for exceptions).

ENTRY LIMIT REMINDER: Maximum of 3 entrants per event. 1 team in each relay. Remember athletes are limited to 4 total events including relays.

ENTRY FEE: The section entry fee is set by the AHSAA at $150 per boys' team and $150 per girls' team. Entry fee is $20 per individual for four or less entries, more than four entries will be an entry fee of $150. Checks are due the day of the meet or may be mailed to arrive earlier. Checks should be made out to Winfield City High School Track & Field. The mailing address is 232 Pirate Cove Winfield, AL 35594.

ADMISSION: $10 per individual per day.

CHANGES: No additions.

UNIFORMS: Rules will be strictly enforced in accordance with

NFHS rules. The Uniform Rule will be enforced in accordance with NFHS rules. In addition, a school ID must be on all uniforms.

HEADWEAR-ELECTRONICS: A pole vault helmet is the only headwear permitted. Medical alert medals should be visible. When the medal is attached to a bracelet or necklace made of metal or an unyielding material, it shall be taped to the body. When the medal is attached to a pliable material, it is not required to be taped to the body. Scarves which are knotted or tied as headwear are not allowed.

Electronic devises may be used in unrestricted areas and coaching boxes, provided that the location does not interfere with the progress of the meet as determined by the meet referee

CLERKING AREA: All track events will be clerked in under the tent at the north end of the complex near the flag pole. Please ask athletes to listen for their event to be called and to report to the clerk in a timely manner.

CLERKING FOR FIELD EVENTS: All field events will be clerked in at the event. If an athlete is involved in a track event and a field event at the same time they should report to the field event first, compete in the track event, and then return to the field event immediately after running.

Implements will be checked at the event venue.

In all throws and horizontal jumps, participants should be given three trials and then nine athletes advance to the finals for three more attempts. When all throws and jumps have been completed and scored, then the minimum qualifying standards are applied to determine qualifiers for the state meet. Time limits will be in accordance with

NFHS rules. A bungee cord may be used during warm-ups before the high jump and pole vault starts. The bungee may not be used once competition has started.

Once the state meet has started, the referee, along with the games committee when needed, shall resolve all questions that arise during the meet. The decision of the referee is final.

No artificial noisemakers (radios, etc.) and laser pen lights or pointers are allowed in section, state and AHSAA-sanctioned meets. Anything that interferes with the progress of the meet may be restricted.

SCORING: Eight places will be scored. Scoring will be 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 for individual and relay events.

QUALIFYING FOR STATE MEET: Schools in each class will qualify for state competition in four section meets.

NOTE: IN ALL RELAYS, THE TOP THREE (3) TEAMS FROM EACH SECTION, PLUS FOUR (4) WILDS WILL
QUALIFY. ONLY 16 TEAMS WILL QUALIFY INSTEAD OF 24.  Up to 8 relay team members should be entered
in alabamarunners.com for each relay event. Only the 8 team members listed as part of the relay team may be used as a substitute for that event. In relay events, a substitution can be made with any athlete listed as part of the relay
team in the sectional entries.

Wildcard ties for running events will be broken by reading times to the thousandths of a second and for field events by using the standard procedure based on misses, attempts, or second best distance.

POLE VAULT: 1. Pole vault verification forms are available online. Coaches should print the forms and bring them to the meet(s) completed and signed.

PLEASE REMIND PARENTS AND ATHLETES: As Outdoor Track season gets into full swing, crowd control is of

paramount importance. Only competing athletes, officials, and coaches in the designated coaches' area are allowed in the competition venue. This includes the oval, anything inside the oval, and field event areas that are inside or outside the oval. Parents, uninvolved teammates, friends and any other persons not falling into those categories should be in the stands, or outside the fenced area of the competition venue. It is realized that track meets are long affairs where competition takes place in multiple areas, however there is never an instance where uninvolved people should be in the competition venue, unless there is an injury situation. No other sport allows fans and nonessential personnel in the competition area. We need to do the same.

AWARDS: Team trophies to the top 2 teams in each division. Medals will be awarded for the top three finishers in each event.

RULES: All AHSAA and National Federation rules on uniforms will be enforced. School issued uniforms worn as intended by the manufacturer. Spikes are limited to 1/4 in'' only. Exhibit good sportsmanship at all times. No profanity, taunting or throwing batons.

Run backs to get a mark on the runways are no longer permitted. The only exception to this rule is for High Jump.

SEVERE WEATHER PREPARATIONS: In case of severe weather all athletes, coaches, and spectators will move to the
elementary school gym and hallways.

CONCESSIONS: Concessions and tee shirts will be on sale throughout the meet.

SEATING: We advise you to tell your people to bring camp or lawn chairs due to limited seating. Team tents may be set up inside the fence at the north end of the complex and along the fencing on the east side of the track as well as on the southern side of the track. No tents near the finish line or concession stand.

Restrooms are at the west end of the concession stand along with numerous port-a-potties.

PARKING: Team buses will be parked on the field north of the track which will be marked with signs. All parking areas on the east side of the track adjacent to the elementary school and the softball/baseball parking lots will be for spectators.

ACCOMODATIONS: Hampton Inn located on Hwy 129 just off of Corridor X / I-22 at exit 30.
