We are inviting all Alabama High Schools to compete in the Last Chance Invitational. This will be a final tune-up before sectionals. We are offering Trophies to the 1st & 2nd Place teams in each gender and ribbons for top three individuals and relay teams in each event. WE WILL HAVE A HOSPITALITY AREA UNDER THE COVERED PRACTICE FACILITY FOR ALL COACHES, ADMINISTRATORS AND OFFICIALS

THIS MEET WILL BE CAPPED AT 12 TOTAL TEAMS

Timing: FAT timing - Port City Timing-Kevin Jones

Entry Fee: $250 per school ($125 for each gender team); Make all checks payable to Saraland High School. Please bring a check with you to the meet. A receipt will be included in your team packet. All fees will be used to pay officials, get meet supplies, ribbons and team trophies. 

Tent/Team Area: All tents should be set up on the Band Field just inside the entry gate, overlooking the track facility.
Restroom Facilities are located behind the concession stand.

Online Entries: All entries must be submitted online at al.milesplit.us 

Entry deadline: Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at 11:00pm CDT 

Entrants: There are 3 entries allowed per school per event for each gender and 2 entries allowed per school per relay for each gender. Athletes are not allowed to compete in more than 4 events total (including relays)

Event Scoring: Open events (Max 4 athletes/school score): 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 Relay events (Max 2 Relay/school scores): 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Only 3 athletes and 1 relay team per school will be scored. Top 3 per event will receive ribbons/medals; 

Field Event Standards:

-Athletes in the horizontal jumps will receive 3 attempts. NO FINALS. If they do not meet the minimum after their first attempt the jump will not be measured.

-All throws will be completed 2 and then 1 to expedite the competition. Furthest throw in the first two throws, given at least one is legal, will be measured. The final throw will also be measured given it is legal and meets the minimum. NO FINALS.

 SARALAND HIGH SCHOOL WILL PROVIDE ALL SHOT PUTS. PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR OWN!!! FEEL FREE TO BRING YOUR OWN DISCS AND JAVELINS. THEY WILL BE INSPECTED AT THE EVENT BY THE EVENT OFFICIAL/MEET MANAGEMENT

-The High Jump bar will move at 2in increments. (Opening Height 4'0" for Girls and 5'0" for Boys)

-Pole Vault bar will move at 6in increments. (Opening Height 6'0" for Girls and 7'0" for Boys)

We will measure the longest legal throw of the first two. However, if the third throw does not reach the minimum it will not be measured 

We will measure the first legal jump in the horizontal jumpsHowever, if the second and/or third throw does not reach the minimum it will not be measured 

Parking: All buses are asked to drop off their athletes and equipment at the gate and then park your bus in the gras area on the road behind Walmart

Team Tents: may be set up on the band field that overlooks the track. The check in area will be in the southwest corner of the track (Near the 100m start line)

Spikes: 1/4 pyramid spikes only 

Concessions: Concessions will be sold. (Drinks and Snacks from the concession stand) There will be a food track on campus selling other food items.

Coaching Boxes: When coaching at a field event, all coaches must be inside of the coaching box.

Field Events #1 (Warm-up begins as early as 3:45 pm - must be declared by the Meet Referee & a head coach or official must be at the event. Will try and start at 4 pm)

Pole Vault (Boys first then Girls - max 4 entries per gender per division per school)

Shot Put (Boys first then Girls - max 4 entries per gender per division per school)

Javelin (Girls first then Boys - max 4 entries per gender per division per school)

High Jump (Girls first then Boys - max 4 entries per gender per division per school) 

Long Jump (Girls in East Pit & Boys in West Pit - max 4 entries per gender per division per school) 

Field Events #2 (Warm-up begins 15minutes after first session is complete - official or head coach must be present at event) 

Disc (Girls first then Boys - max 4 entries per gender per division per school) 

Triple Jump (Girls in East Pit & Boys in West Pit - max 4 entries per gender per division per school) 

RUNNING EVENTS: Athletes will compete in flights based on seeded time. Girls will always go first followed by boys. All races will be run as finals.

Please inform parents not to purchase tickets until at least the night before to make sure the weather allows us to compete.  If the event is rescheduled, the tickets will still be good if purchased for the original date.
