Alabama high school track and field athletes recorded several personal bests at sectional meets during the week of April 20.
Antonio Autrey (Center Point) threw 48-4.5 in the shot put at the AHSAA 3A Section 3 meet at Lincoln on April 24, improving from his previous best of 37-0.5. The freshman ranks #40 in Alabama and #2 among freshmen statewide after placing 5th out of 96 competitors. Autrey also set a personal record in the discus with a throw of 99-3, improving from 88-0.
Carson Coker (Wetumpka) ran 12:40.82 in the 3200 meters at the AHSAA 6A Section 1 meet at Saraland on April 24, dropping from her previous time of 13:50.96 set in April. The freshman ranks #128 in Alabama and #19 among freshmen after finishing 3rd out of 8 runners. Coker also recorded a personal best in the javelin at 78-0, improving from 73-2.5.
Mallory Campbell (Smiths Station) posted a time of 12:47.36 in the 3200 meters at the AHSAA 7A Section 2 meet at Smiths Station on April 24, improving from 13:39.77 set in April. The freshman ranks #138 in Alabama and #21 among freshmen after placing 6th out of 11 competitors.
Johnathan Hamby (Pell City) threw 141-0 in the discus at the AHSAA 7A Section 3 meet at Hewitt-Trussville on April 24, surpassing his previous mark of 120-6 from April. The junior's throw set a Pell City High School record and ranks #54 in Alabama and #15 among juniors after an 8th-place finish out of 74 throwers.
Cameron Ingram (Hackleburg) cleared 6-4 in the high jump at the AHSAA 3A Section 4 meet at Winfield on April 24, improving from his previous best of 5-8 set in April. The senior's jump established a Hackleburg High School record and ranks #17 in Alabama and #8 among seniors after placing 3rd out of 18 competitors. Ingram also set a personal record in the triple jump at 40-11.8, improving from 39-7.
Calena Vassel-Thorton (Davidson) ran 12.72 in the 100 meters at the AHSAA 7A Section 1 meet at Saraland on April 24, improving from her previous time of 13.13. The junior ranks #106 in Alabama and #32 among juniors after finishing 10th out of 54 runners.
Caitlon Jackson (Muscle Shoals) clocked 12.82 in the 100 meters at the AHSAA 6A Section 4 meet at Muscle Shoals on April 24, improving from 13.16 set in April. Jackson ranks #138 in Alabama after placing 19th out of 65 runners and also set a personal record in the 200 meters at 26.83, improving from 28.05.
