Several Alabama high school track and field athletes set personal records during competition the week of March 16.
Will Shepherd (Winterboro) jumped 22-0.5 in the long jump at the Sylacauga Meet 2, improving from his previous best of 20-3. The sophomore ranks #56 in Alabama and #5 among sophomores statewide after winning the event. Shepherd also set a personal record in the triple jump, going 43-3.5.
Taylor Plott (Auburn) cleared 5-4 in the high jump at the Loachapoka Indians Invitational, bettering her previous mark of 5-0 set in March. The freshman won the event and ranks #7 in Alabama and #1 among freshmen in the state.
Nylah Green (Eufaula) ran 12.45 in the 100 meters at the Loachapoka Indians Invitational, improving from 12.79. The junior placed third and ranks #75 in Alabama and #19 among juniors statewide.
Hobbs Kelly (Oak Mountain) ran 1:59.84 in the 800 meters at the Fort Payne Invitational, dropping from his previous best of 2:06.12. The sophomore won the race and ranks #86 in Alabama and #8 among sophomores in the state.
Rashad Jones (Foley) threw 156-2 in the discus at the Lyon Newell Throws Meet, improving from 138-8 set in March 2026. The senior placed second and ranks #19 in Alabama and #9 among seniors statewide.
Sydney Martin (Mountain Brook) cleared 12-0 in the pole vault at the Fort Payne Invitational, bettering her previous mark of 11-7. The junior won the event and ranks #5 in Alabama and #1 among juniors in the state.
Akilah Muhammad (Hewitt-Trussville) ran 15.62 in the 100-meter hurdles at the Thompson Invitational, improving from 16.15. She placed second and ranks #39 in Alabama. Muhammad also set a personal record in the 300-meter hurdles, running 48.92.
