Alabama high school track and field athletes posted several personal records and big improvements during the week of March 2. Check out some of the highlights of the week below!
Tremane Wilson (Huffman, Birmingham) ran 1:59.99 in the boys' 800 meters at the Southern Miss High School Invitational on March 6, winning the event among 52 competitors. The senior improved from his previous best of 2:17.24 set in December 2024. The time ranks Wilson 83rd among 3,279 Alabama athletes in the event.
Zy'Mar Butler (Gadsden City) clocked 10.96 in the boys' 100 meters at the Gadsden City Meet #2 on March 5, placing third in a field of 15. The junior lowered his previous best from 11.62 set in March 2025. Butler ranks 98th among 4,609 Alabama sprinters and 21st among 937 juniors statewide.
Owen Reineck (Bayside Academy, Daphne) threw 51-11.5 in the boys' shot put at the Saraland Invitational on March 6, winning among 22 throwers. The junior improved from his previous mark of 45-8.5. Reineck ranks 17th among 2,708 Alabama shot putters and third among 537 juniors in the state.
Landon Gray (Scottsboro) jumped 23-11 in the boys' long jump at the Black & Gold Classic on March 6, winning the event with 29 competitors. The junior improved from his previous best of 22-5.5. Gray ranks ninth among 2,621 Alabama long jumpers and leads all 530 juniors in the state.
Ace Tankersley (Marion County, Guin) cleared 6-4 in the boys' high jump at the 20th Annual Winfield Ice Breaker Invitational on March 7, winning among 16 competitors. The sophomore improved from his previous height of 5-8 set in April 2025. Tankersley ranks 27th among 821 Alabama high jumpers and leads all 154 sophomores statewide.
