After a great first day of the 2024-2025 AHSAA Track and Field Championships, where champions were crowned in both the 4A-5A and 7A, it was now time for Day 2, where the 1A- 3A and 6A State Champions were going to get crown. Chelsea High School claimed the 6A Girls State Championship. Ty Cason and Mia Dunavant went one and two in the 400 and 800. Cason finished first in the 400 (57.37) and 800 (2:13.52). She also finishes second in the 1600 with a time of 5:11.49. Briarwood's Mary Grace Parker took home first at 5:08.21, while Pelham's Emily Wester (5:11.78) grabbed bronze.
Chelsea's 4x2 team grabbed first in the 4x2 with a 1:44.76. Northridge (1:44.87) finished second, while Athens (1:46.09) grabbed third. Their 4x4 team finished second as Mountain Brook (4:03.61) took the top spot. Pinson Valley (4:05.19) was third. Chelsea's 4x8 finished third (9:56.30) as Mountain Brook (9:46.72) and Fort Payne (9:51.55) took the top two spots. Speaking of Mountain Brook, their girls took home the 6A Runner-Up plaque. Annie Kerr scored 20 points for the team, winning the 6A Girls' triple jump (37'09.25) and Girls' pole vault (13-01.00). Anna Erdberg and Kennedy Hamilton scored 16 points, and Erdberg (11:14.67) won the event, while Hamilton (11:28.61) grabbed third. Mary Grace Parker (11:17.56) from Briarwood secured second. Athens' J'Da Williams took home first in the 6A Girls' 60 Meter Finals, clocking a time of 7.71 and 6A Girls' Long Jump (17-05.00), while McAdory's Morgan Rooks grabbed first in the 6A Girls' 60 Meter Hurdles Finals. Lee-Huntsville's Brianna Stephens claims first in the 6A Girls' High Jump. On her fifth throw, Central Tuscaloosa's Mar'Rica Trone became the 6A Girls' Shot Put State Champion with a throw of 39-06.00.
On the 6A Boys side, Homewood secured the State Championship with 99 points. Colin Bussey finishes first in the 6A Boys 400 (49.60) and 800 (1:54.33). Tomon Felton (22-02.25) and John Esslinger (21-07.25) went one and two in the 6A Boys' Long Jump. The 4x4 and 4x8 teams both finished second. Mountain Brook boys 4x4 (3:27.11) and 4x8 (8:09.11) finish first. Central Tuscaloosa's 4x4 (3:29.43) grabbed third, while Pell City's 4x8 (8:17.55) grabbed third. In the 6A Boys 4x200, Huffman (1:30.27) took home first. Blount (1:30.61) was second, followed by Pell City (1:30.72) in third. Hazel Green's Bryce McCleary swept first in the 1600 (4:17.39) and 3200 (9:32.21). UMS- Wright's Peyton Holderer grabbed second in both events, while Homewood's Foster Laird was third. Buckhorn's Marcus Lee won the 6A Boys' High Jump. Northridge's boys were the 6A Runner-Up. William Numnum scored 15 points for the team, including 10 points in the pole vault. Numnum won the event by clearing a height of 15-00.00.
In 1A-3A Girls, Altamont secured the State Championship. Tricia Maddux claimed first in pole vault, clearing a height of 8-06.00. Talia Floyd claimed first in the triple jump with a jump of 34-06.50, while teammate Valeria Blanco finished seventh. Floyd also finished second in the Long Jump, while teammate Tyler Daniels grabbed third. Dadeville's Arielle Russell won that event with a jump of 16-01.75. Altamont's 4x2, 4x4, and 4x8 all added to their points as the 4x2 finished third, and the 4x4 and 4x8 finished second. Cornerstone Schools of Alabama won the 4x2, with Dadeville finishing second. Westminster School at Oak Mountain claimed first in the 4x4 and 4x8. Mobile Christian's Hailey Padgett grabbed first in the 60 Meter Finals (8.01) and 60 Meter Hurdles (9.53). She was fifth in the 400. 400 being won by Pleasant Valley's Ella Parris with a time of 1:02.15. Parris grabbed third in the 800 as Westminster's Pippa Hussar (2:28.62) and Emily Mungai (2:29.26) went one and two. Westminster School at Oak Mountain was the 1A-3A Girls' Runner-Up.
Dadeville's boys are your 2024-2025 1A-3A State Champions. Their 4x4 (3:42.40) claimed first as Altamont (3:43.30) and Faith Christian (3:46.30) grabbed second and third. With a jump of 41-09.25, Kodi Morgan Jr won the Boys' triple jump as teammate' Kenneth Lewis came in third. Winfield City's Kane Hendrix (39-08.00) and Cornerstone's Jahbari Harper (38- 10.75) were second and third. Hendrix won the 60 Meter Hurdles as Falkville's Brodie Bennett and Dadeville's Keyshun Woodyard rounded out the top three. Alabama Christian's Thaddeus Merritt won the 60-meter dash. Faith Christian's Vinson Montgomery won the 400 Meters Dash. Holly Pond's Travis Barnett won the 800 and the 1600, while Trinty Presbyterian's John Thomas Mathison won the Boys' 3200.
