Senior Salute: Parker Campbell

The Chelsea High School standout closed out his senior campaign with an insane performance at the RunningLane Track Championships, it's Parker Campbell!

Interview with Parker Campbell of Chelsea High School.

Q: What is your favorite ice cream flavor?

A: Vanilla and Honey

Q: Where are you planning to attend college? Or do you have other post high school plans?

A:  Lee University

Q: Do you plan to continue competing in track and field or cross country in college?

A:  Yes

Q: What is your favorite event to compete in and why?

A:  The 4x800 because of the excitement and anticipation of getting the baton on the last leg. It's different from the individual events and you get to race with your teammates and go after a goal together like a school record or All-State as a team.

Q: Do you have any pre-race/competition rituals or superstitions?

A:  Eat steak and eggs with electrolytes the morning of races. I pray with my teammates before getting on the line of every race.

Q: Which track or cross country meet was your favorite and why?

A:  My favorite cross country race was the Montevallo Twilight because that was my only xc win. My favorite track race was running 8:57 in the 3200 at RTC and winning heat 2. I've never felt better in a warmup or a race than I did that night. I was the 19 seed and came in only breaking 9:20 twice so I surprised myself by PR'ing that much in my last ever 3200. Running it with the support of my family and friends was awesome.  For sure the RunningLane 3200 and Mile because of the atmosphere and excitement. They have arguably the best post season event and give you the best chance at a breakout race.

Q: What is your favorite memory or highlight from your time on the track and field or cross country team?

A:  Spending time with my teammates at the state meet this year and running 8:57 at RTC with friends and family supporting me!

Q: Is there anyone that you'd like to give a special shout-out to?

A:  My family for always believing in me when I set an audacious goal. My coaches and teammates for helping me get to where I am by making me better each and every day.

Q: What is one piece of advice you would like to leave for your teammates as you graduate?

A: A piece of advice for my teammates is "Push yourself and your teammates to be better everyday because it'll be over before you know it." -Parker Campbell
