Edgeworth Strikes Again: New Alabama 3200m All-Time Record!

If you don't know who Ethan Edgeworth is by now and you are a fan of the sport, I'm not sure what universe you have been living in.  Because, Ethan over the last two years has raised the bar for Alabama distance running by both competing locally but also travelling across the country to face the best.  Just last week Ethan set a new PR for the full mile running 4:08 in Huntsville, good for #4 all time in Alabama.

This week Ethan travelled across the country to California to participate in the Arcadia Invitational 3200m.  Coming into the meet Ethan had run 8:53 on two different occasions, once last year at the RunningLane Track Championships, which made him the fastest Alabama prep over the distance, and more recently at NIN in March.  Tonight Ethan toed the line with 38 of the absolute best in the country and despite my personal feelings on the number of athletes in the race, Ethan came ready to impress against the loaded and incredibly field.

Ethan, went through the 1600 right around 4:24, which is just ahead of pace of his previous best by about 5 seconds.  Daniel Simmons of American Fork began to lift the pace in the next few laps and that majority of the field went along for the ride.  Ethan entered the bell lap in 13th position and would close out his 3200 in 59.63 moving him all the way up to 6th place and finish with a new PR and a new Alabama prep best of 8:38.49.
