Matthew Rueff interviews after winning the 2022 Carl Lewis Inv. shot put
Katy Seven Lakes has been turning out some of the state's top throwers over the last several years. So far, this track and field season looks to be no different as Matthew Rueff is the new leader of the Spartans throws crew.
Last year, Rueff ended the year as the third place finisher in the shot put at the UIL 6A state track and field championships. As things currently stand, he already has the ball rolling with wins at two indoor track and field meets with some big time distances.
With winning tosses of 59-4 at the Carl Lewis Inv. and 60-9.25 at Texas A&M, Rueff already has two throws beyond his outdoor PR.
The optimism is real for Rueff. He has been putting in a lot of work on his technique along with getting both faster and stronger. He said, "I think I'm a lot faster, we've been doing a lot of work in the weight room so now I can go a lot faster in the middle and that'll get more distance."
